In a liquid, the particles are mostly touching but are not arranged in a regular pattern. In a gas, the particles are very spread out from each other and there is no pattern. A common mistake is to make liquids "halfway" between solids and gases. Liquids are much more like solids than they are like a gas.

Solids are made up of molecules just like liquids and gases are. 4. Solids do not flow like liquids do. 5. Solids turn into liquid with heat.

The level of energy is highest in gases, medium in liquid and lowest in solids. The compression of solids is difficult, liquids are nearly incompressible, but gases can be easily compressed. I set this solid, liquid, gas experiment up for us at home while I was making breakfast. I have had lots of request from the science experiment section of the Berenstain Bears Big Book of Science and Nature. Very simple but important science concepts are explained in the perfect way for young children and moms who may have forgotten a few things! Watch the transition from solid to liquid to solid in this science project for kids on states of matter -- and make something good to eat. Solids can change into liquids, and liquids can change into solids.

Most kids know the fizz that bubbles up when you pour a glass of soda is carbon dioxide gas called carbonation. What they may not know is how it is made.

Australian Curriculum links: Year 5 Science. Solids, liquids and gases have different observable properties and behave in  Properties of solids, liquids & gases. Some solids are hard and strong, others are flexible. Most solids will melt when heated and liquids evaporate to form a gas.

2020-01-24 · Solids become liquids; liquids become gases. Depending on the conditions, a substance may skip a phase, so a solid may become a gas or a gas may become a solid without experiencing the liquid phase.

Gas water is called steam or vapor. When water boils it will turn to vapor. These molecules are hotter, looser, and moving faster than the liquid molecules.

Matter is anything that takes up space and has weight. A solid keeps it shape, a liquid takes the shape of its container and a gas fills its container.
